2009 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Coupe
"There were several big drivers for developing the new Z06. One was to utilize lessons learned in the C5-R racing program, including engine development and aerodynamics. The next was the need to build an extreme performance Corvette, occupying a higher level than the current C6 Z51, which already has inched within a breath of the C5 Z06's capabilities. And third, GM wanted to answer the growing posse of supercars from Dodge, Ford, Ferrari, Porsche, and Aston Martin." Corvette Quarterly magazine, Spring 2005
For consignment, a 2009 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 coupe, a one owner pampered performer with a title verified 5,148 actual miles. It was not hyperbole when the magazine went on to proclaim "By a wholesome measure it is the most wicked Corvette in history and destined to redefine the sports car performance for money equation worldwide." You want a piece of that history? Read on.
Exterior
Cyber Gray Metallic presents a wonderful coverage for a sleek street machine that announces its superiority with an aggressive fascia that includes a low and wide lower intake and a nose mounted hood scoop that sets the lines for a slightly bulge that flows back to the raked windshield. From there, the straight roofline leads to a cascading rear window and a rear that ends bluntly with a rear leaning cant on a car with more angles than a protractor. The Z06 emblazoned fender vents lean forward countered by the brake cooling intake duct on the rear quarter, which leans back, picking up on the tail's attitude. The argent gray wheels, 18-inch front and 19-inch rear, are enhanced by red brake calipers. Out back, the iconic quad tail lights anchor the gunmetal gray rear panel, and four tailpipes are center exit between the reverse lights which contour into the valance. The whole package is a fantastic design in like new condition, the only imperfection being some scrapes on the chin spoiler.
Interior
The Ebony palette begins on the smooth door panels, simple and ergonomically designed that help provide a solid thud on closure. Z06 is embroidered on the tuck and roll black leather high back bucket seats that look comfortable enough for long hauls and mile jaunts, while accentuated by red stitching. The meaty steering is also purposely simple, allowing the driver to focus on the car's best attribute, its driving! The instrument cluster is a logical arrangement of gauges with white illuminated numbers and bright red needles on a black background. Carbon fiber trim frames the center stack where you'll find the AM/FM/CD radio and A/C panel which share the knob style with the radio making for a clean and unified presentation. The center console also wears carbon fiber and the stout shifter is dressed in a black leather boot while charcoal carpet covers the floor protected by Z06 branded carpeted mats, all below a soft to the touch headliner, all in great shape. The cargo area is a plush stretch of charcoal carpet and quite possibly has never seen cargo.
Drivetrain
Pivot the hood forward and massive red engine covers pierce your pupils and reveal Chevy's venerable 7.0 liter LS7 V8 pumping out 505 horsepower without any kind of forced induction. A TR6060 6-speed manual transaxle transfers power via 3.42 rear gears with limited slip and power disc brakes are on all fours, clearly visible through the wide spoked wheels.
Undercarriage
About what you'd expect on a 5,000 mile car, minimal surface rust and some road spray, but otherwise as it would appear in the showroom. The dual exhaust system is, of course, original equipment, including the mufflers which immediately unleash the quad chrome tips. Heavy duty suspension specs grace the Z06, consisting of transverse composite monoleaf springs, tube shock absorbers, and anti-roll bars.
Drive-Ability
Sliding gracefully into the deep buckets, we enter the proverbial rocket ship and fire up the LS7 which sends rumbles below our seat. What can we say? Stupendous acceleration, race car like handling, and a cabin that is more seasoned driver than boy racer. As expected, all functions operate just as intended on this low mileage car. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
A stock, unmodified C6 Z06 in a stunning color and barely broken in. Like many Vettes of this ilk, it has been pampered and garage kept by its sole owner and will come with all service records and paperwork it's accumulated since its birth in Kentucky. This is a fantastic opportunity to fulfill that dream that keeps poking you in the brain. This is the one you've been waiting for, but don't wait to make the call.
