VIN Number 001 2020 Shelby GT500 Sells for $1.1 Million to Benefit Type 1 Diabetes Research

VIN number 001 of the long awaited 2020 Shelby GT500 was just sold at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale for a whopping $1.1 million. The buyer was none other than the CEO of Barrett-Jackson Auctions, Craig Jackson. Edsel B. Ford II and Aaron Shelby were on hand to promote the car and the cause its sale benefitted: funding research of Type 1 diabetes in children. This sale contributes to Fords $3.5 million in annual donations to JDRF , a leader in the funding childrens diabetes research. The 2020 GT500 boasts 700 horsepower making it the most powerful Shelby car in history. The chance to become the owner of the first 2020 Ford Shelby GT500 cars is an opportunity of a lifetime, said Joe Hinrichs, Ford president, global operations. More importantly, being involved in helping to raise much needed funds and awareness for JDRF is a big win for everyone.
