FANTASTIC FRIDAY AT BARRETT-JACKSON: Gary Sinise, Jeff Gordon and several hundred examples of collectible cool star on the auction block

Award-wiinning actor Gary Sinise came to the block with a custom 1981 Jeep CJ7 , that ended up bringing a total of $1.31 million to the Gary Sinise Foundation .   The energy and excitement at the 48th Annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction continues to build! On Friday some 350 more incredible vehicles crossed the block in the full-to-the-brim auction arena, and thousands of car enthusiasts found delights around every corner of the 73-acre site. Craig Jackson, Gary Sinise and Steve Davis react to the sale of a custom Jeep CJ7 for the actor's Foundation. The big stars of the show today were four remarkable vehicles that rolled across the stage with a purpose: to benefit some very worthwhile charities. Award-winning actor Gary Sinise rocked the house when he brought the first offering a custom 1981 Jeep CJ7 dressed in a custom paint scheme to honor all branches of the U.S. military. The Jeep sold for $200,000 to benefit the Gary Sinise Foundation , which is dedicated to helping our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families and those in need. To sweeten the deal even more, the Jeep was donated back to be sold again for an additional $100,000, Sunbelt Rentals generously contributed $1 million more, and longtime Barrett-Jackson friend Michelle Mauzy selflessly gave another $10,000 bringing a total of $1,310,000 to help this incredible cause. Winning bidder Craig Jackson and Carolyn Jackson celebrate the sale of the VIN 001 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 with JDRF children and the team from Ford Shelby including Edsel Ford and Aaron Shelby. A 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 , considered the pinnacle of all Mustangs engineered by Ford Performance and the most powerful street-legal Ford ever, was driven onto the auction block by none other than Carroll Shelbys grandson Aaron Shelby and Edsel Ford to sell for JDRF . With the knowledge that the winning bidder would become the owner of the VIN 001 first production Mustang Shelby GT500, the bidding escalated quickly, resulting in a sale price of $1.1 million to none other than Barrett-Jackson Chairman and CEO Craig Jackson for his personal collection. 10-year-old cancer survivor Lila Downey rides onto the auction block with NASCAR great Jeff Gordon in his 2016 Corvette C7.R . How many of us would have liked to ride shotgun as NASCAR Hall of Famer Jeff Gordon drove his extraordinary 2016 Corvette C7.R onto the famous Barrett-Jackson auction block? That honor on Friday was reserved for Lila Downey , a 10-year-old childhood cancer survivor, representing the thousands of youngsters with cancer helped each year by the Jeff Gordon Childrens Foundation . The rare Corvette sold for $400,000 to businessman and collector Ron Pratte, who generously donated the car back to be sold again for an additional $200,000, for a total of $600,000 going to this important cause. The top-selling car on Friday was this 1967 custom Corvette Convertible , which brought in $330,000. From the respected Bruce Meyer Collection , one of just 37 2015 Shelby GT350R Mustangs roared onto the block to benefit the renowned Petersen Automotive and Henry Ford museums. The rare car, which was prominently displayed in Meyers Beverly Hills Garage since he took delivery of it in 2015, has less than 200 miles on it, and brought the gavel down on a winning bid of $500,000 to benefit the Petersen Automotive and Henry Ford museums. There were plenty of other notable collector car sales on the auction block on Friday as well, with a 1967 custom Corvette convertible the top-selling car of the day at $330,000, as well as a 1969 custom Camaro RS/SS for $242,000, and two 1967 Mustang Eleanor tribute editions Lots #1049.1 and #1126 each selling for $161,500.
