Every car enthusiast has that one perfect model- the car youll spend years and search the country for. With Chuck and Susan Zelnik of San Bruno, California, that hunt lasted three years, and it was worth the wait. In 2017, they became proud owners of an original, numbers-matching 1970 Chevelle SS LS6 in metallic Fathom Blue with white stripes at the Mecum Auction in Portland, Oregon. Chuck worked for Chevrolet as a service, body shop, and parts manager and began his search for the Chevelle back in 2014. After coast-to-coast inquiries, he came upon his car, which was sold at Barford Chevrolet in Clayton, Missouri, on January 30, 1970. Everything from the M22 Rock Crusher four-speed, 4:10:1 12-bolt rear axle with Positraction, to the Rally wheels, it was all there and had been beautifully restored. Here are some of big-ticket items on the car: LS6 454 engine M22 four-speed Power steering Power front disc brakes Bucket seats with console Factory tach and gauges Delco AM radio Soft Ray tinted glass 147-inch SS five-spoke wheels Firestone Wide Oval tires Fathom Blue with White stripes Black vinyl upholstery Nicely detailed undercarriage The car has been driven only 200 miles post-restoration, and it looks like it just rolled out of the showroom in 1970. It even has the original window sticker and Protect-O-Plate. Even if muscle cars arent your thing, you cant deny the appeal of this big-block, four-speed classic. This car does all the talking it needs to just idling through a parking. It is sure to literally shake things up when it rolls through the longest running Concours car show this weekend on the south side of San Francisco Bay.
