The Burt Collection To Be Sold At No Reserve Auction

Lake Forest, Illinois. August 5, 2013. An early on passion for aesthetically pleasing cars that told a unique story and represented some part of automotive history lead Paul J. Burt to acquire his collection of vintage classic cars. His collection has grown to over 120+ cars, motorcycles, and boats and will be sold at a no reserve auction by Worldwide Auctioneers on Saturday, September 21, 2013. Burt, Founder and CEO at WestLake Financial Group and a noted poet, photographer and car aficionado, passion grew from his love of art, design and aesthetics. His collection shows his fondness for cars especially in from the 1950’s.

“That’s when the mad race for building sports cars began. GIs traveling through England saw the MGs and other sports cars, and when the war was over and won, that’s what they wanted to drive.” he recently told the Lake Forester newspaper.

“I like to see some of the older people talk about their memories of these cars. They are transported back in time. I even sit in these cars from time to time, wondering what the first owner was thinking the first time he got behind the wheel, and did he feel as excited as I am at that moment.

Highlights of the one day auction include a 1937 Packard Twelve All-Weather Cabriolet, a 1983 Ferrari 512 Bbi, a 1960 Alfa-Romeo Sprint Speciale, a 1953 Allard K3 Roadster and a 1959 Facel-Vega HK 500. A beautiful 1958 Chris Craft Silver Arrow, a 1928 Chris Craft Triple Cockpit, a 1937 Chris Craft Runabout, as well as a 1956 Chris Craft Semi Enclosed Cruiser. Notable motorcycles of interest include a1975 Hercules W2000, a 1975 BMW R60/6 as well as a 60/6.
