This 1958 Chevrolet Corvette is a beautifully restored, C1 Corvette that is ready to be driven and enjoyed on a nice summer day! Back in 1952 at the Motorama, Chevrolet debuted its 2 seater Show Car then known as the EX-122. While the vast majority of Show Cars are seldom put into production, Chevrolet actually began to produce the EX-122 as the now named Corvette and in turn launched one of the greatest successes for Chevrolet and one of the greatest American made cars of all time. The first couple Corvettes were fairly humble, rocking 6 cylinder engines, automatic transmissions, and minimal options. As the decade progressed, Chevrolet began to introduce more powerful, performance-oriented engines and more options so that the Corvette could stand up to the wonderful European sports cars it was meant to compete against. The 1958 Corvette was the most "jazzed-up" 'Vette Chevy had produced up until that point, something that the buying public had been yearning for years. The most quintissential changes made to the '58 Corvette was the addition of faux-louvers in the hood along with a pair of chrome bars running down the trunk lid. In addition, the 1958 Corvette marked a changeover from a single headlight to a dual headlight design, which was due to a change in US government regulations that allowed for cars to have a total of four headlights as opposed to two. Of course, Chevy made a number of other revisions to the 1958 iteration of its beloved sports car. Up front, while the vertical tooth design was retained in the grilles, four of the vertical "teeth" were removed which provided for a cleaner front end look. Down the sides, Chevrolet added three horizontal chrome strips to the side coves on the '58 Corvette that further added to the overall pizazz of the new 'Vette. Up front and in the rear, the chrome bumpers were also enlarged a bit and gave the 1958 'Vettes even more visual panache. On the inside, the 1958 Corvette interiors were also considerably refreshed. For example, a more modern looking pleated upholstery replaced the old waffle-patterned materials and this pleated look would be carried in the years that followed. Similarly, the dash and instrument cluster were updated in 1958 and are a major highlight of the new '58 interiors. Finishing off the new-look interior of the '58 Corvette was the addition of the passenger grab bar that would also be carried forward in the years that followed. All of these updates combined led to huge jump in sales for the Corvette, with the line experiencing an approximate 30% boost in total production. Yet fewer than 10,000 Corvettes were produced in 1958, which makes this particular example quite a rare piece of automotive history. Under the rear-opening faux-louvered hood on this '58 Corvette is a recently rebuilt 283 Cubic Inch V8 mounted under a "Dual Quad" intake with a pair of 4 barrel carburetors. The Dual Quad V8 is mated to a 4 speed manual transmission that makes this classic Corvette a really fun car to drive. Exhaust exits this Corvette's 283 powerplant via a dual exhaust setup that generates a terrific throaty sound out the rear tailpipes. Riding on a set of wide whitewall bias-ply tires with each paired with full spinner-style wheel disc, this 1958 Corvette has a fantastic look whether parked at the local car show or cruising down the road. A driver's side mounted chrome outside mirror is a welcome addition on any vintage car since it makes squeezing into a tight parking space much easier and whole lot less stressful. This 1958 Corvette also comes with a color-matched removable hardtop that provides a nice coupe look to this Chevy sports car. The fiberglass body on this '58 Chevy Corvette has been refinished in a beautiful two-tone paint scheme consisting of Snowcrest White with Silver painted coves that complete the exterior look of the car. The interior of this 1958 Chevrolet Corvette is absolutely gorgeous! The bucket seats have been reupholstered in Red vinyl and they have a fantastic look. The matching upholstered door panels, red carpeting, dash and steering wheel all appear to be in wonderful condition as well and all appear to retain a nice stock appearance. The instrument cluster comes equipped with a 160 MPH speedometer, 8,000 RPM tachometer, battery gauge, oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, and fuel gauge. The dash is finished off with a Wonderbar push-button AM radio, chrome rear-view mirror, clock, and the iconic 50s 'Vette grab bar. Whether you're buying your very first classic Corvette or you're adding to your existing collection, this 1958 Chevrolet Corvette would make an excellent choice.
