1947 Ford F-47. Built to show, but ready to drive! This truck was meticulously built and rebuilt several times by the same owner to achieve perfection on the show circuit. It’s been in the hands of the same family since it came off the assembly line. Over 240,000$ invested to create a one-of-a-kind award-winning machine. Always stored in climate-controlled conditions, the first-recreation completed in the 1980’s. With a goal of perfection, the truck has been completely torn down to frame twice since then. A complete nut and bolt resto-rod restoration. Since it’s last build, use has been limited to drive-on/drive-off show trailering. Extreme care and attention do detail went into body prep and paint application. A custom color mix named Dusty Rose Pearl Metallic featuring blue pearl, sets this ride apart from any other at a car show.
The Truck features a long list of custom modifications featuring all Ford parts. Power comes from a 351 Cleveland V8 with crane cam, Holley aluminum intake and 600 cfm Holley carb mated to a Ford FMX 3-speed auto donated out of a 1970 Mustang with many components triple-plated in chrome. Custom built aluminum radiator, ceramic coated manifolds, chromed hoses, ac compressor, alternator and even transmission pan complete the look. Stainless 2.5” exhaust with mangnaflow mufflers keep things sounding great. A complete Wilwood disc-brake system means reliable and precise braking along with QA1 coil-overs and chromed leaf springs mounted to a custom fabricated ‘79 Ford F150 frame. Rounding it out is a 9” Ford axle with 3:50 gears out of a ’68 Ford Galaxie. Many suspension, steering, fuel system and frame components have been extensively customized to fit this truck.
Aside from fantastic paint, on the outside you’ll find a custom hydraulic flip forward hood, mostly original cab and new truck-box sheet metal finished with 3 coats of paint and 6 coats of clear, wet sanded and power polished. All trim has either been extensively restored or replaced with new. All glass and weather stripping are brand new, now with power windows. The truck box features cabinet maker quality wooden toolbox and liner with 30 coats of clear coat. Foose Nitrous polished 5 spoke 18’s round out the look.
The interior features a custom high back split bench finished in Taupe leatherette, custom carpets headliner, door panels and arm rests. The original steel dash was restored, smoothened and painted and features Vintage A/C controls and Dakota Digital vintage nickel face gauges. A polished Aluminum Ididit steering column is topped off with a matching custom billet/Taupe Leather steering wheel. A custom hidden Auto Sound stereo system with 4 hidden speakers and a hidden 10” subwoofer means the tunes sound great, while maintaining the custom look.
This ’47 is well known for winning top awards at car shows it’s attended. It wouldn’t be out of place in the collection of any vintage vehicle connoisseur.
