1985 Toyota Celica GTS Convertible

Description:

Time to get your hands on a limited edition droptop before the market for Japanese classics gets any hotter. This 1985 Toyota Celica GTS convertible is a well-presented example that will provide you with plenty of driving smiles and a ton of growing admiration.

The design of the third-generation Celica has matured into a terrific overall presentation. And you understand that exceptionally well thanks to the good care shown on this example. After all, the angular front end wouldn't be so attractive if the headlight doors didn't still fit flush. The dip in the trunk line needs to be crisp to really get noticed. Plus, the flared wheel arches and large factory GTS wheels gave Toyota a sporty presence in the '80s. The red paint is bold and has a nice shine that looks good on sunny days - exactly what you want on a sunshine-friendly convertible. It's unknown if the odometer reflects the full actual mileage, but the presentation on this one has the look of a car that has been driven with care and respect. And it is an all-around attractive cruiser. Because even on the gray days, the black folding roof is a great coordinate with the chin spoiler, trim, front end, and rear bumper to almost give this one a two-tone effect. The roof is what makes this rare. The convertible was specially completed by American Sunroof Corporation (ASC) for Toyota, and they only offered it in the final two years of this generation. It was an expensive option, and so it's estimated that less than 4,500 were produced in total.

Toyota gave this Celica GTS a unique-looking bucket seat interior, and so we are glad to see it so well preserved in this example. More than just distinctive, this is a comfortable cloth setup that comes loaded. Cruise control, power locks, a tilt steering column, power steering, and upgraded AM/FM stereo with Bluetooth gives this correct interior a luxury feeling. There are even provisions for factory air conditioning (it will need servicing to blow cold again.) And you'll even appreciate the details, like the working courtesy lights and a hard boot cover for the top. Plus, you have power windows and a power convertible top. That means you can go from enclosed comfort to a wind-in-your-hair experience without leaving your driver's seat.

The engine bay has the clean look of a hardy and maintained Toyota powerhouse. The 2.4-liter motor is from the family of four-cylinders that have earned a nearly bulletproof reputation in robust vehicles like the pickups. But this fuel-injected powerhouse in this sports car is made for smooth and swift driving. Toyota fans know this model as the last of the rear-wheel-drive Celicas, and this was its final year. They love the nimble steering, four-wheel power disc brakes, and the GTS's fully-independent suspension. Plus, the five-speed manual transmission keeps you firmly in control of all the action.

As you can see, this is a complete and well-presented rare classic that's loaded with all the best features. It even comes with a display board listing its virtues. And if you act fast, it can all be yours. Call now!
