Featured here is an amazing high-end build that was a complete ground-up, frame-off restoration. Great care was taken in the build to retain the design elements that are unique to vintage C10 trucks yet utilize current technology and engineering to build a truck that looks original yet runs and drives like a modern vehicle.
The factory frame was modified using Detroit Speed suspension components. Up front tubular A-arms provide the dropped stance and are supported by adjustable coilover shocks, and the steering has been upgraded with a power rack and pinion unit. Out back the four-link suspension with panhard bar rides on adjustable coilover shocks and keeps the GM 12 bolt differential equipped with 3.73:1 gears firmly planted to the pavement. The stance on this truck is menacing with a nice rake that looks fast just sitting still. Baer four-wheel slotted and drilled disc brakes are on all four corners with 6 piston calipers up front and 4 piston units in the rear which bring this vintage truck to a stop like a modern Corvette. The attention to detail of the build is evident in the quality of the fabrication of the suspension to the hand-bent custom fuel lines and brake lines and so much more. The underneath of this truck has been kept clean and is well-detailed and is near show-ready as it sits. This custom chassis set-up rolls on Rushford Rated X custom alloy spoked wheels with low-profile Z-rated low-profile tires.
The drivetrain between these frame rails is a 5.3 LS motor that has been modified with aluminum heads, Holley intake, and carburetor. A set of faux valve covers hide the coil packs underneath and with the vintage Chevrolet script and cast-iron manifolds, this motor at a glance looks like a stock GEN I motor topped with a stock GM dual snorkel air cleaner. Of course, once you hear the thumping idle rolling out of the MagnaFlow stainless exhaust system you realize there is a lot more going on in this powerplant. This combination produces 440 hp that is transferred through a GM 700R4 4-speed transmission back to the rear differential via a custom aluminum balanced driveshaft. An aluminum air cleaner with electric fans keeps this hot setup running cool. The firewall and inner fenders have been caressed and smoothed to give the engine compartment a clean look.
The bodywork on this truck has been professionally executed and each panel has been massaged to be laser straight and the body fitment and alignment are show quality. The factory fuel tank behind the cab has been relocated and updated with an aluminum fuel cell at the rear of the frame with the fuel filler inside the rear of the bed. Other touches include custom inboard tailgate latches and hand-fabricated rear wheel wells to encase the monstrous rear rubber. The work is so subtle yet it looks like it is factory. Numerous coats of clear were applied over the deep black paint and each coat was meticulously polished in between each application to provide a mirror-like finish. The chrome bumpers were re-chromed to show quality and all the related stainless trim is either new or restored. Finally, the same care taken with the metal work on this truck was taken with the wood floor in the truck bed with the wood finished to a deep gloss.
Inside the cabin, the attention to detail continues. The steering wheel is a restored 1960 Chevrolet Impala mounted on a tilt steering column. The dash is a custom unit built to resemble the rare stock factory unit complete with full gauges including a clock and tachometer to monitor the engine vitals. The Vintage Air controls for the A/C unit look stock in the dash and the radio has been upgraded to a Custom AutoSound unit that powers a set of four Kicker speakers. The dash, other interior metal, and carpet in the interior are finished in black. The soft upholstery is finished in tan vinyl. The door panels feature custom stitching that takes its unique design cues from the original door panels. Likewise, the bench seat features subtle changes such as side bolsters and fitted cushions, yet the stitching reflects the original factory upholstery.
This is an amazing truck that is ready to go, be it for show or go. Please call if interested or e-mail with specific questions. Thank you for looking!
