2007 Audi RS4 Sedan
"With its 420hp peak in full bloom at 7800 rpm, the RS4 is blessed with an engine that is flexible and rev happy. That's what makes a 4.6 second 0 to 60 time possible, despite the problems encountered getting a good launch with all wheel drive in 97 degree heat and an altitude of 2000 feet. Sure, we correct for weather, but breaking traction in these conditions to keep the revs up is virtually impossible. The RS4 runs the quarter in 13.2 seconds at 109 mph, and that's a real measure of its potential." Car and Driver, September 2006
For consignment, a 2007 Audi RS4 sedan, silver on ivory, a luxury grand touring sports sedan with a potent power plant, bulging hips, and genetics you can trace to the Autobahn.
Exterior
Flared fenders and vent ducts and intakes on the front fascia tell you right away this is not your average Audi A4. Dressed in Avus Silver Pearl Effect paint that is fathoms deep and contrasted by the black banded mesh grille and lower intakes, this is one you move right for on the freeway. The short decklid transitions to a small wing over flush tail lights that wrap around while a wall of silver cascades down over the rear bumper, then a grated rear valance takes over in black, housing the twin oval exhaust tips. The telltale red square on the emblem hints at the car's potential and the 19-inch wheels provide an aggressive stance. Those wheels are wrapped in tires with a late 2021 and early 2022 date code. Up top, a sunroof allows views of space while a shark fin antenna keeps a low profile to slice through the atmosphere. Imperfections include various scratches, most touched up, scrapes under the chin, and curb rash on wheels.
Interior
Not one to skimp on interiors, Audi is known for well crafted, efficient, and quality interiors and ours begins with ivory panels and carbon fiber trim on the door panels, wrapped in high quality plastic borders and map pocket and all four doors are in great shape. Ivory leather also covers the front bucket seats, accentuated with dark piping and embossed RS4 on the seat back. Our driver's seat shows some wear with slight discoloration, creasing, and compression while the passenger seat and rear 2+2 where design has not been spared all look good. A sporty steering wheel provides great grip and leads to a simple, functional dash for four gauges that flank a digital information screen. A ribbon of carbon fiber spans the width of the dash, and the center stack contains a large screen and AC controls with bright red readouts. The stout shifter has a spherical knob and a black leather boot, all surrounded in more carbon fiber. Tight black carpet covers the floor with fitted Audi mats protecting it. Some sagging is noted on the headliner which maintains an ivory colored palette. The trunk is lined in gray flannel panels and looks clean.
Drivetrain
A clean engine bay houses the 4.2 liter DOHC V8 putting out 420 horsepower and adorned with some carbon fiber dress up pieces that show some wear due to condition under the hood. Bosch MED 9.1 sequential fuel injection delivers the go juice and a Getrag 6-speed manual transmission gets the power to all four wheels via a Torsen center transfer case and electric locking front and rear differentials, both with 4.11 gears. With a performance sedan like this, only power disc brakes will do and that's what's on board here.
Undercarriage
Driver quality but very clean underneath where most components are routed through a center tunnel, keeping the sides flat to allow air to skim past. The dual exhaust encounters original equipment mufflers right before heading to the back and coil spring suspension is on front and back and both ends are independent. No rust, no grease, and no errant fluids.
Drive-ability
For a car that's 17 years old, the cabin feels fresh and relevant today. It's clearly driver focused but is also a great place to be a guest. We take a few laps on the loop and find smooth shifting, gobs of power, and excellent tracking and handling. And in 17 years, none of the electronics or other functions have failed. Everything works. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
