As you might imagine, that methodical rebuild involved full stripping and meticulous repair of the car's buff body. And the builders' quest for absolute visual authenticity was eventually attained through correct Ivy Glow Metallic two-stage and intricate Laser Stripes.
At the front of that rich pearl, an aggressive, '72-exclusive grille hangs an ornate crest between stainless-trimmed headlights and a heavy bumper that's stretched between amber parking lamps. Behind that grille, crisp ""F O R D"" header lettering leads a correct Gran Torino hood, which fronts stainless-trimmed glass that's reflected in Ivy Glow Sport Mirrors. A handsome Sportsroof profile plants traditional door handles between bright marker lamps and a custom fuel door. And at the back of that profile, simple taillights illuminate a guarded bumper under a second crest and tasteful ""GRAN TORINO"" lettering.
PERFECTING THE WINDSOR
Hoist this Ford's long hood and you'll find 427 cubic inches of professionally installed Ford Racing stroker that greatly enhances the car's theme of retro polish and tailored performance. At the top of that Windsor mill, a polished air cleaner utilizes a Ford Blue filter element to thread wind into self-tuning FAST electronic fuel injection. That easy system feeds a polished intake, which feeds predictable Ford Racing heads that are dressed in attractive, Cobra-themed valve covers. At the front of those heads, a hot MSD distributor sequences MSD 6A spark between a polished coil and loomed MSD Super Conductor plug wires. Behind those wires, coated Doug's tubes make easy work of spent gases. At the front of those tubes, a Billet Specialties Tru Trac serpentine drive spins a polished alternator opposite a polished AC compressor. Cooling comes courtesy of a factory radiator, which is finished with a polished expansion tank and a big electric puller fan. And first-rate detailing, like braided lines, ARP bolts, an Optima battery and a Ford Racing breather round out a very impressive engine display.
OLD SCHOOL CHARM
Why fix what isn't broke, right? Most enthusiasts love the feel of a traditional muscle car, and this excellent Torino certainly doesn't disappoint! Bottom-side, solid floors stretch Satin Black sheen around an impressive array of proven components. The serious 427 spins a cooled Ford AOD 4-speed, which uses a quality COMPUSHIFT II controller to twist power through a tough Ford 9-inch. That familiar pumpkin pushes a fully rebuilt suspension, which cages modern power steering. Braking is equally predictable, with power-assisted calipers leading power-assisted drums. The aforementioned headers dump spent gases into large-diameter pipes, which center an H-shaped crossover in front of welded mufflers and small resonators. And everything rolls on alloy Magnum 500 replicas, which lap 255/50R17 Nitto NT450 Extreme Performance radials in front of 275/50R17 Nitto NT450 Extreme Performance radials.
CONSERVATIVE CUSTOMIZATION
Pop the doors and you'll find a correct Medium Green interior that's been tastefully customized in all the right ways! Tall Grand Torino Sport buckets stretch clean Sebring Knit Corinthian Vinyl between long shoulder belts and a custom, LED-lit console.
