Datsun began manufacturing automobiles in 1914. In 1955, with the 110 it began the numerical nomenclature for its platform used in mass production sedans, wagons and coupes. Beginning with the 210 in 1957 it launched the Bluebird line of family cars which ran through 1984 when the 910 became the Altima. For its 1963 introduction, the 410 series was styled by the Italian design house Pininfarina, giving it a classic sport sedan stance that evokes Alfa and Lancia. In that vein of sport sedans the 410/411 series incorporated more performance oriented chassis dynamics including double wishbone front suspension, quick ratio steering and front disc brakes. The Bluebird sedan weighs in at barely 2000 pounds and with the 1300 cc 4 cylinder engine produces 72 horsepower and 100 foot pounds of torque making it sporty indeed. These cars were super rare in the USA compared to the highly successful 510 which debuted in 1968. This car was restored well over ten years ago and has collected some cosmetic flaws. Mechanically the engine and transmission are in great running condition. The Bluebird starts up easy, idles steady, shifts smoothly (although the shifter is a bit vague by modern standards). It accelerates without hesitation and corners without excessive body roll; brakes are predictable and true. There is no concerning rust on the car. Tires are old but roll out fine, the oversized wheels are a matter of taste. There is a crack in the upper corner of the front windshield. Interior is nice and tidy, trunk finished with carpet.
