1933 Pierce Arrow 836 Sports Coupe

Description:

Reportedly purchased by the Mellon family when new, this Pierce Arrow Sports Coupe was acquired from the Estate of Richard Mellon Scaife in the early 2010s. As the grandson of prominent industrialist Andrew Mellon, Richard inherited a 900-acre manor estate outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (along with this automobile) after the passing of his mother Sara Mellon Scaife. Richard Mellon Scaife owned the Pittsburgh Tribune, along with numerous banking and real estate interests.

After leaving the Estate of Richard Mellon Scaife, this 1933 Pierce Arrow Sports Coupe benefitted from meticulous restorative work and mechanical servicing by Steve Babinsky and his team, so it could be enjoyed and driven on multiple CCCA tours.

A very rare car, even among Pierce Arrows, Model 836 Sports Coupes such as this were specially produced, and typically found ownership among influential figures and celebrities such as Ginger Rogers. The car includes detailed maintenance records from recent ownership, a vintage owner's manual, and several publications showing this car participating in various driving and concours events
