1947 Dodge W-15 1/2 Ton Pickup

The U. S. military used some of Dodge's light truck models in mostly stock, two wheel drive form. Technical manuals of U. S. Army military vehicles offer some more detailed specifications on three such models: the 1947 model year WC and WD-15 models, and the 160 inch wheelbase version of the SNL G number 618 aka the WF-32.

Up for auction is a 1947 Dodge W-15 ton pick up truck showing 83,887 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This one presents in nice condition with clean paint and crisp white markings, decked out as Military Police and ready for service, sir! This truck cranks and runs.

Exterior
Olive drab green is the color here with a satin shine we're not sure is regulation but sure looks good on this ton pickup. The typical polished trim of civilian W-series Dodge trucks remains bright and reflective, the only thing that veers from the green exposure. A heavy duty bumper has been added up front and a jerry can is perched on the right running board while an indentation resides on the left rear fender where a spare wheel would go. Around back, tools are mounted to the tailgate while inside the bed, the steel floor blend in with green paint and presents cleanly.

Interior
Brown door cards host the window and door hardware, showing patina and a tan canvas cover coats the bench seat inside, while brown vinyl panels line the side walls. Green covers the steel dashboard housing pedestrian level vintage gauges while the black steering wheel is coupled with a black shifter from the floor to create the driving mechanisms. A textured rubber mat covers the entire floor, finishing this fairy clean cabin.

Drivetrain
Driver quality conditions greet us from the engine bay where the 218ci L-head inline six cylinder is found. This engine receives fuel through a 1-barrel carburetor and is rated at 92 horsepower. A 3-speed manual transmission routes power to the rear axle with 4.11 gears.

Undercarriage
The inline six puts out a single exhaust system with stock style muffler and suspension is comprised of leaf springs front and rear.

Drive-Ability
Hooah! This truck cranks and runs!
