1932 Bantam Altered Drag Car For Sale
This 1932 American Bantam is a purpose-built drag machine engineered for serious competition. It rides on a late-1990s chromoly round-tube chassis built by GForce Race Cars in Tonawanda, NY - well-known in the Northeast for building NHRA-ready, high-strength frames. With just 1,630 pounds to move and a proven powertrain combination, this car has the credentials to back up its appearance at the track.
Under the bodywork is a 496ci big-block Chevy built by Earl McQuillen, a respected Western NY engine builder. It uses aluminum cylinder heads, a 1050 Dominator carburetor, and a 16.1:1 compression ratio. On motor alone - no nitrous - it produces a dyno-verified 805 horsepower. Power is sent through a Pro Series Powerglide equipped with 1.80 straight-cut gears and a trans brake, feeding into a floating rear end. Stopping power comes from disc brakes at all four corners, and the car wears new tires.
The performance numbers tell the story. This Bantam is a time-slip proven 6-second car, running 228 mph in the quarter mile. In the 1/8 mile, it consistently runs in the high 4-second range with 1.04 - 1.06-second 60-foot times. The first owner made only two nitrous passes, both around 4.7 seconds in the 1/8 mile. The current (second) owner has never sprayed the car. Since the engine and transmission were built, the car has fewer than 30 total 1/8-mile passes.
Lightweight, well-sorted, and built with quality components, this 1932 American Bantam is an opportunity to own a competitive, proven bracket or heads-up piece that still has plenty of potential leftwhether run naturally aspirated or with nitrous reintroduced.
