1969 Pontiac Beaumont Convertible

Description:

1969 Pontiac Beaumont

VIN: 736691103464

This is a rare 69 Pontiac Beaumont convertible 'tribute' or 'clone'. One of 474 ever produced in Canada in 1969. There are an estimated 165 of these left in existence. It was originally a 'custom' with a 350 ci small block engine and 3 speed auto. In 2002 it received a frame off restoration from its owner in Calgary. The restoration included everything on the car. Underbelly, trunk, chassis components and suspension, brakes, steering, transmission, interior, convertible top and tonneau cover, new paint, rear diff, and of course the engine, a 396 cu in...just to name a few. It was badged correctly at that time. A Sport Deluxe. SD 396.

Apparently that engine blew in 2005 and a 454 cu in was put in. The car was sold in 2006 to a gent in southern Saskatchewan and only put on 500 miles in the 10 years he owned it. When I bought the car in 2017, several engine gaskets were leaking because the engine was rarely started. I had them replaced and kept up with any engine leaks as time went on. There was a leak coming from the rear seal on the engine that I postponed...for obvious reasons! In 2023 after just returning from a cruise in the mountains, a head gasket blew. So the winter of 23/24 I had the engine professionally rebuilt by a friend of mine, a race car mechanic. Since that complete engine rebuild, the car starts, runs and drives like new. I had the rear diff changed to 308 gears. I wanted the car to be a cruiser. This lowered the rpm at highway speed from 3400 to 2300 at 60mph, which increased fuel economy. I had era correct cruise control professionally installed. I had an upgraded retro sound system professionally installed, complete with amp, woofer, and Bluetooth. It sounds amazing! It cruises like a jet on a calm day. New Magnaflo mufflers were added, the underside clear coated and the rear quarters coated with a stone chip resistant clear film.

This car comes with 2 covers- one nylon and one heavy fabric. This vehicle has never been on a gravel road. It has always been parked and stored indoors. Heated storage in winter months. It has 2 minor stone chips, One on the hood and one on the front drivers quarter panel. It also has a couple fine and minor paint/lacquer cracks. There are no dents. No rust. The convertible top is in as new condition. The rear window is glass! Very rare. The tonneau cover is showing a bit of sun rot. Under the tonneau cover on the passenger side the foam has been pieced together in a small area. The white vinyl interior is in excellent condition. It has a power top, power trunk, power steering and power disc brakes, original rally package gauges including tach, tilt steering, cruise, bucket seats with head rests, counsel, seats 5, 400 turbo 3 speed auto transmission, shifts beautifully! 308 rear diff with 12 bolt posi rear end, 454 cu in engine with a mild hydraulic lifter cam. Approximately 385 hp. High compression, 30 over 10 to one. Flat top pistons. Stock heads. 650 carb vacuum secondary. Stock cast intake. Aftermarket aluminum tall valve covers. New battery. New starter. New water pump. Basically everything under the hood is new, short of the intake and block. The heads were redone with the engine build. Tires and windshield are good. All lights work. Everything works as it should. Original rally wheels. The only mechanical issue it has is filling the fuel tank too full. On a hot day, if you fill the tank fill, that cold fuel will expand and leak out the vent tube and down the tank onto the ground. I have had several mechanics try to fix this issue, but none of their ideas have worked. So to compensate for this, I calculate roughly how much fuel is left in the 18 gallon tank, and only fill to within a gallon or 2 of completely full. This solves that issue. It is NOT a hole in the tank. The tank has been taken off the car and pressure checked. It is caused by a short vent tube. There is no space up in there for a longer one.

Since the engine rebuild it has approximately 1,000 miles on it. The odometer reads approximately 64,000 miles. A good quality 10w-30 conventional motor oil in it, with a liter of zinc additive. It burns no oil. I only burn premium fuel in it. It will sputter on regular fuel. If you are forced to use regular, keep a bottle of octane boost with you and add it for those occasions where premium may not be available. I know all the work that's been done and I know what I have is reliable and fun to drive. I would drive this car across the Country without worry.

The car is currently in heated storage and there's no access until May 1, 2026.

THIS VEHICLE TO BE COLLECTED FROM REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA.
