1969 Chevrolet Camaro

Description:

This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro is a professionally built restomod developed around modern pro-touring engineering. The car was the subject of an extensive three-year build completed in 2020, resulting in a highly detailed and well-sorted first-generation Camaro. Acquired by its current owner in that finished form, the car was later sent to Metal Brothers Hot Rods in Mobile, Alabama, where roughly $80,000 in additional upgrades were completed during 2024 and 2025 to further refine its performance and presentation. The result is a striking first-gen driven by a 427ci small block and supported by Detroit Speed chassis engineering and a carefully selected list of high-end components.

The Camaro's body presents with the kind of finish that immediately stands out in person. Its deep black paint, accented by painted white stripes, has been professionally ceramic coated and carries a rich gloss that's difficult to fully capture in photos. Bright trim and chrome details maintain the Camaro's traditional appearance, while LED headlights and LED taillights add modern illumination. A rear deck spoiler completes the car's classic profile, while an Anvil carbon fiber front spoiler gives the nose an aggressive edge. The stance is defined by forged-billet Schott Tomahawk wheels measuring 18x9 up front and 19x12 at the rear, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires sized 255mm up front and 325mm out back, giving the Camaro a planted presence that matches its pro-touring chassis.

Power comes from a potent 427ci small block V8 built by Skip White around a Dart block and rated at approximately 550 horsepower. The engine sits within a highly detailed bay that features Anvil carbon fiber front fenders, firewall, and closeout panel. Carbon fiber Chevrolet-script valve covers and a matching air cleaner continue the theme, complemented by billet hardware and cleanly routed plumbing throughout the compartment. Equipped with Holley Sniper electronic fuel injection, aluminum AFR cylinder heads, and Lemons long-tube headers, the engine feeds a custom stainless exhaust system with Black Widow mufflers that deliver a muscular tone. A Tremec 5-speed manual transmission transfers power to a Ford 9" rear axle built by GearFX with 3.73 gears and a limited-slip differential. Beneath the car, Detroit Speed engineering forms the backbone of the chassis with a Detroit Speed front subframe, Hotchkis subframe connectors, JRI coilovers at all four corners, Detroit Speed mini-tubs, and a Detroit Speed QuadraLink rear suspension. Braking comes from power Wilwood disc brakes with red 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers gripping drilled and slotted rotors, complemented by power rack-and-pinion steering.

Inside, the cabin has been completely retrimmed with a coordinated mix of premium materials and modern components. TMI bucket seats and a matching rear bench feature Alcantara inserts with dual contrast stitching and satin black grommet accents, a design that carries across the door panels and dash pad to give the interior a distinctive custom look. Carbon fiber door sills add another subtle performance touch at the thresholds. Dakota Digital gauges sit ahead of a Billet Specialties steering wheel mounted to an Ididit tilt steering column, while Vintage Air climate controls provide modern comfort. Ringbrothers hardware appears throughout the interior, including door handles, door jamb vents, window cranks, door locks, and trim pieces that add slick billet detailing. A Sony touchscreen receiver with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM capability anchors the audio system, powering Kicker speakers and a trunk-mounted subwoofer through a JL Audio amplifier integrated into the custom trunk.

Already a turnkey pro-touring Camaro when acquired by its current owner, this build was pushed even further through a significant investment in additional upgrades and detailing. The car now reflects careful attention to performance and presentation. Finished in black with white stripes, it wears one of the most timeless and menacing looks ever applied to a '69 Camaro.
