Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is proud to present this 1950 Mercury Station Wagon, a classic "woodie" that seamlessly blends vintage craftsmanship with modern drivability. Finished in striking Inca Gold and accented with beautifully crafted bird's-eye maple wood doors and body panels, this wagon is a rolling piece of automotive art. Wood-bodied wagons like this were built using real hardwood, a tradition carried over from carriage building, and surviving examples in this condition are increasingly rare.
Inside, the tan and wood two-tone interior complements the exterior perfectly. Custom Stewart-Warner gauges, a hidden remote sound system, and meticulous craftsmanship throughout the cabin merge classic style with modern convenience.
Under the hood, a 350 CID V8 paired with an automatic transmission provides strong performance, featuring an Edelbrock intake and Rochester GM carburetor. Upgrades include power steering, HydroVac power brakes, and Vintage Air climate control. The original frame was discarded and replaced with a Chevelle frame.
Custom touches include a 3-inch chopped roof, rounded headlights and hood corners, one-piece side glass, and distinctive 1952 Buick taillights, all combining to create a sleek, one-of-a-kind look.
