In 1908 John North Willys would take charge of the struggling Overland automobile company and shape it into a world class builder of fine motorcars. In 1909 he purchased the former Pope-Toledo Factory in Toledo Ohio and hired a former Packard Engineer. The reorganized company became Willys-Overland. In 1910 Willys-Overland would produce over 15,000 automobiles. Over 6,700 would be the new Overland Model 38. Finished in Dark Blue with Black Fenders and Gray Coach Stripe. Black Leather Button-Tufted Seats. Black Cloth Top, Boot, Rear Seat Tonneau Cover and Side Curtains. The Model 38 was powered by Overland’s 198 Cubic Inch 4-Cylinder engine which was rated at 25 Horsepower. 2-Speed Planetary Transmission with Reverse. Upgraded with a Modern Electrical System for touring. 12-Volt Battery and Alternator. Upgraded to ELECTRIC START! Electric Headlamps, Taillamps, Turn Signals and 4-way Safety Flashers.
