1963 Yamaha YDT-1 250
VIN:
Yamaha's YDT-1 was produced for only six months in 1963 and is quite rare; it was produced as a transition between the company's two lines of motorcycles, the YD touring and YDS sport series. While it borrowed such features from the touring bikes as electric starting, a long range black and chrome tank, and a single carb for easier maintenance, it also utilized the tube frame chassis, sport fender styling, and five speed transmission found on Yamaha's YDS sport bikes.
The YDT-1 that you see here was purchased out of a museum collection by the current owner in 2016. It was in all original condition, with the odometer showing 6.828 miles. It then received a complete and thorough service that included new tires, speedo cable, battery cables, and rebuilt carburetor, fuel petcock, and starter, to ensure that all mechanical and electrical components were fully functional and in proper working order. The bike was then “pickled” and has been carefully maintained and displayed since.
