1963 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

Description:

Chassis No.
30867S109678

Famously known as the C2 Sting Ray, 1963 was one of the most significant turning points in Corvette's history. Styled under the direction of Bill Mitchell and inspired by Pete Brock's revolutionary XP-87 Sting Ray Racer, the 1963 model abandoned the rounded lines of its predecessor in favor of sharp creases, muscular fenders, and an aggressive, modern profile that instantly captivated enthusiasts. It was a dramatic leap forward in both styling and engineering, firmly establishing the Corvette as a world-class sports car capable of competing with the best Europe had to offer. Available in both coupe and convertible form, the 1963 Corvette offered buyers a choice between open-air motoring or the sleek new split-window coupe, a design that has become one of the most recognizable and collectible American automobiles ever built. While the split-window coupe receives much of the attention today, the convertible remains equally admired for its clean body lines and timeless proportions. Combining unmistakable styling, improved handling, and genuine sports car character, the 1963 Corvette remains a landmark in Chevrolet history and a defining icon of America. Offered from the first year of the historic Sting Ray is this 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible that is the recipient of a complete restoration. According to its original trim tag, it was produced in the third week of February in 1963 at the General Motors assembly plant in St. Louis, Missouri. Finished in its original and attractive color combination of Riverside Red over a red vinyl interior, it is complete with a color-matched hardtop and white convertible soft top. Adding to the overall car, other features include a drivers side mirror, Hurst shifter, radio, and clock. Equipped with a 327-cubic-inch V-8 engine that produces 340 horsepower, it features a correct engine block casting and correct date code Carter AFB carburetor. Backing the engine is a Borg-Warner T-10 four-speed manual transmission, that adds to the overall driving experience. Mechanically, 1963 was the debut year for independent rear suspension, which this example has. Other equipment includes four-wheel drum brakes and a correct 3.36 Positraction rear axle. In the accompanying Roy Sinor Prestige Automobiles, Inc. Pictorial Report, its stated, we can optimistically say eighty-nine 1963 L76, G81 3.36 Positraction, four-speed two top Corvette convertibles could have been built. When you factor in its Riverside Red exterior and red interior to the entire equation, it's guessed to be one of five examples, making this a unique Vette. Blending iconic styling with the engaging feel of a four-speed manual and the landmark independent rear suspension, this 1963 Corvette Convertible is poised to reward its next caretaker with the unforgettable driving experience that forever cemented the Sting Ray's place in automotive history. * First-year example of the historic Sting Ray Corvette * Recipient of a complete restoration * Documented with a Roy Sinor Prestige Automobiles, Inc.
